Although
we call 243 SUPPORT a skateboard "company", we do
not actually have a team of sponsored riders or pro's. That's
why this section is called "family" rather than
"team". None of us aspires to be a big name in the
contest circuit or to become famous through skateboarding.
We're just a bunch of friends that like to skate, do things
creatively, and help each other out whenever we can. And have
some fun doing it.
In Summer 2001 Dave the
Chimp and Lucas Krull decided that working in our jobs alone
was just too boring and unrewarding. Since we're both skaters
and artists / designers, one of our dreams had always been
to do something that is creative and skateboarding related.
Often we talked about building ramps, parks, printing boards
and tshirts... One day we were asked to create some designs
for our friends in Germany, who run Hessenmob Skateboards
and Hessen Metal Hardware. It made us realise that our life
long dreams didn't have to be just dreams. If they could do
it, why couldn't we?
One of the first Hessenmob
t-shirts read:
HESSENMOB - 284th SKATEBOARDING SUPPORT BATTALION, GIESSEN,
GERMANY
Since we were doing graphics for them, we figured we are another
"skateboarding support battalion", with our division
based in East London. From there it wasn't far to come up
with the number 243. We're 2 friends, 43 is Dave's lucky number,
4+3=7, which is Lucas lucky number...
The 243rd Skateboarding
Support Battalion was born!
All our friends were down
with helping us, more than happy to represent our idea while
indulging their love of skateboarding. You can see our combined
efforts all through the web site infront of you, and learn
more about our family by clicking on the icons above.
It's amazing what you can acomplish when you have good friends.
These are some of ours!
